It's LEAF Season - 'Best Multicultural Festival'
Held Oct. 19-21 in NC Mountains

from the Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF)

The 13th Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF), listed in the Washington Post as being "the best multicultural mix-and-match festival," is happening October 19-21 at historic Camp Rockmont in Black Mountain, NC, about 12 miles east of Asheville. LEAF offers a creative blend of performances, workshops, and a beautiful mountain setting for a relaxing and renewing experience. A unique mix of music, dancing, handcrafts, healing arts, poetry and adventures for all ages make LEAF what it is.

"Our historic location offers the perfect space for nurturing creativity," says Jennifer Pickering, producer of the festival. "We seek to honor this place - once the home of the historic Black Mountain College - by nurturing this gathering, which resounds with the spirit of creativity," Pickering adds. The Black Mountain College operated on the present site, now a boy's summer camp, from 1933 until 1956. During that brief period, some of the most innovative thinkers in 20th Century Art and Architecture taught and studied here, including Buckminster Fuller, Kenneth Noland, and Robert Rauschenberg.

LEAF is unique among festivals for its wide variety of workshops, on poetry, dance, drumming, yoga, tai chi, arts, crafts, music, and much more. There is truly something for everyone at LEAF, with its wide range of music and outdoor activities. LEAF is a community of incredible people of all ages. It is a festive family scene, and a world unto itself for 3 days.

"My favorite part of LEAF is seeing people interacting whose paths would probably not cross elsewhere. People leave the festival with a greater sense of appreciation for people of different backgrounds," observes LEAF staff member Brad Howard.

LEAF performers are local, regional, and international. The fall lineup includes acts from North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Cuba, South America, Morocco, and Ghana, to mention just a few. The feature performers are:
