For thousands of years the practices of yoga have offered systematic ways to bring body, mind, and spirit into harmony. Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT) uses selected traditional yoga practices, along with contemporary approaches to focusing awareness, to bridge and integrate these same aspects. It has been found to be an effective modality for the treatment of pain and various other conditions. It is essentially a non-directive, client-centered process for facilitating the client's awareness of what is happening in their body and their life, for integrating this information, and for using it to initiate desirable changes. Phoenix Rising practices and methods are based upon the hypothesis that most of our fundamental attitudes in life have their physical counterparts in the body.
Many PRYT clients are attracted to the work as a vehicle for enhancing their personal growth and quality of life. Most are short-term clients receiving an average of between six and ten sessions initially but often returning again at some point for further work when they feel the need. After receiving a series of sessions clients will often report finding: greater freedom of movement in their bodies; greater mental and emotional clarity around significant life issues; less tension in their bodies; and a more finely tuned awareness of their physical, emotional and mental states.
